As part of our newly developed model series of the Talbot Lago Type T 150 C-SS "Teardrop," we would like to highlight the variant, item no. M-179, as a "Memory Edition" in a metallic aubergine paint finish. This vehicle, formerly presented in the Rosso Bianco Collection in Aschaffenburg, inspired our now-deceased CMC co-founder, Mr. Herbert Nickerl, so profoundly that the idea of creating a high-quality CMC model of one of these breathtaking automobiles never left him.

With the CMC “Memory Edition” of the Talbot Lago “Teardrop” (with headlights embedded in the body), we have now made his model dream come true.

In CMC's early years, this sophisticated car was "still a size too big" to meet the high model requirements of this classic of the century. From today's perspective, after more than 20 years of classic car model building experience, we were now ready to recreate this dream vehicle as a top-of-the-line, high-end model, featuring a "teardrop" body by the French metalwork virtuosos Figoni & Falaschi, unsurpassed in elegance and aesthetics.

When CMC decided to build a model of the Talbot Lago Coupé with its Figoni & Falaschi "teardrop" body, our model builders' pulses raced, and the joy of being able to recreate such a work of art was immense. But at the same time, the challenge and obligation of doing justice to this demanding project were also present.
Many experts around the world agree that this vehicle can no longer be judged by the standards normally applied to automobiles. The Talbot Lago, with its bodywork crafted by the famous French sheet metal craftsmen Figoni & Falaschi, has a look like something from another planet. The car is simply what one would call "state of the art" today.

When Talbot first presented the coupé at the 1937 Paris Motor Show, onlookers were immediately taken aback by the excitement. Everything about this fascinating vehicle, every detail, testified to a deep love and almost "obsession" with perfect design and matching accessories. Added to this was a metal sunroof, rare for the time. A luxuriously appointed interior with artful craftsmanship in fine wood and elegant leather created a feel-good atmosphere, and a silky-smooth six-cylinder inline engine, which produced between 140 and 160 hp depending on the version, provided passengers with supreme driving pleasure.
When Anthony Lago signed an exclusive collaboration agreement with the then internationally renowned Frenchman Giuseppe Figoni and his partner Ovidio Falaschi in 1937, the flagship product of this partnership was the so-called "Teardrop" coupé, which was launched on the market between 1937 and 1939 with just 16 examples produced. Five units were built in the first production series, called the "Jeancart." The second production series was presented at the 1937 New York Auto Show and comprised 11 vehicles built exclusively with the T150C-SS chassis and a short wheelbase of 2,650 mm. This batch of vehicles went down in the Talbot-Lago annals as the "New York Model." Each individual vehicle differed in either barely noticeable or larger, more striking details. A typical example of this was the design of the headlights, which were either freely mounted between the radiator grille and the fenders or recessed into the body, arranged behind a chrome-plated metal bar trim.
Anthony Lago, along with his chief engineer Walter Brecchia, were already technologically ahead of their time. First and foremost is the shortened, lightweight T150C-SS chassis. Independent suspension, a Wilson 4-speed preselector gearbox, excellent brakes, and, as already mentioned, a refined six-cylinder inline engine were the other technical highlights of this extraordinary vehicle.
