The name Mercedes-Benz has been closely associated with the Mille Miglia since 1930. In 1931, the brand with the three-pointed star stepped into the spotlight as a winner for the first time. In 1955, Mercedes-Benz fielded the 300 SLR in the Mille Miglia for the first time. The already celebrated young British racing driver Stirling Moss and his co-driver Denis Jenkinson Jenks were given starting number 722 and staged a race that remains unforgettable to this day. Driving the Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR racing car and the now legendary starting number 722, Stirling Moss and his co-driver Dennis Jenkinson won the 22nd Mille Miglia in 1955 in a legendary record time of 10 hours, 7 minutes, and 48 seconds. This 1,600-km endurance race went down in motor racing history as the fastest Mille Miglia of all time. Stirling Moss achieved an average speed of 156.3 km/h.
The CMC Mercedes-Benz SLR is hand-assembled from more than 1,500 parts, with every historical detail taken into account.
