Model History:

The Ferrari 275 GTB is a two-seater Gran Turismo racing car with a displacement of

275 cm3 per cylinder. Four 275 GTB “Competizione Speciale” cars were built in 1965, each equipped with a 250 LM engine. Their entire bodywork was made of very thin aluminum. Magnesium was used for the chassis construction. The entire construction was further lightened by numerous drilled holes. At some point, however, the lightweight construction reached a limit where the FIA signaled to Ferrari that they would now question the homologation of the vehicle as a GT contender. This threat regarding the significantly underweight vehicle design was only withdrawn after Enzo Ferrari threatened to cease all racing activities. Finally, a compromise solution was reached. A Series II version of the 275 GTB appeared in 1966. The vehicles were announced as Type 275GTB/C, with the “C” standing for Competizione. A total of twelve 275 GTB/C vehicles were produced, which were equipped with either a twin-cam engine or a quad-cam engine. The suspension was stiffened with the help of additional springs. The body, consisting of an ultra-thin aluminum skin – which was barely half as thick as the body used on the 275 GTB – was mounted on a super light chassis. The entire rear section was reinforced with a fiberglass overlay to prevent torsion. Many parts were made of magnesium to save weight.

A transmission or transfer error led to the 275 GTB/C having to make do with a triple-carburetor engine. The engine was fitted with three Weber carburetors Type 40DF13, instead of the originally intended six-carburetor setup 38 DCN. With the triple-carburetor solution, the 275 GTB/C unfortunately lost some power.

CMC had the unique opportunity to perform a complete data acquisition on a Ferrari 275GTB/C, chassis # 09015, which was in absolute original condition. The vehicle is the second car produced in Series II and also one of the last GT class vehicles produced by Ferrari's racing department in Maranello.

As with most 275GTB/C vehicles, chassis # 09015 was also used in various high-profile races. Throughout their racing careers, the 275GTB/C vehicles were able to achieve a whole series of victories.

CMC will prepare a limited edition of vehicle # 09015. This vehicle was used by NART with start number 26 and the two drivers Biscaldi and de Bourbon in the Le Mans endurance race in 1966.

Furthermore, CMC will offer a standard model of a 275 GTB/C based on chassis # 09067 in red Ferrari paintwork and with black interior.
