Today I am offering a collection from a former CMC dealer and long-time collector of these beautiful models. Almost all of them are in new condition in their original packaging with all accessories as shown in my photos. If the model had leather straps to close the hoods, these were never opened. In many cases, the security stickers are still present. Everything should be clearly visible in the photos. One or two of the original packages may show signs of storage.

You will receive an invoice according to §25a UstG without showing the statutory VAT for used goods.

Not suitable for children under 14 years. May contain small and sharp parts.

Model History:

Growing prosperity and the mild climate made California the "dreamland" of Americans. Johnny von Neumann, a Ferrari dealer in California, realized that the jet set needed a special "toy" that was completely different from the vehicles of American manufacturers. His desire for a powerful Spyder found a receptive ear in Enzo Ferrari.

With the 250 California SWB, Ferrari succeeded in creating a convertible that was unsurpassed in the late 1950s and was considered the benchmark for all open-top roadsters. This was partly due to the ingenious duo, Sergio Pininfarina as the body designer and the equally renowned Sergio Scaglietti as the virtuoso sheet metal artist.

The "Cal-Spyder" was initially launched at the beginning of 1958 with a long wheelbase of 2,600 mm. In 1960, a new version followed, known as the Short Wheel Base (SWB) with a wheelbase of 2,400 mm. This car was essentially identical in construction to the 250 GT/SWB Berlinetta, which was introduced at the end of 1959. Its famous 12-cylinder V-engine now delivered a powerful 280 hp to the asphalt. Vehicles for road use received a steel body, while for racing, a lightweight aluminum body was provided along with a larger fuel tank and an external quick-release fuel filler cap.

The Ferrari "Cal-Spyder" therefore quickly became a status symbol for the truly ultimate and honest "dual-purpose car." In other words, it was equally at home on the road and on the racetrack. Thus, it achieved an almost mystical status as a successful sports car, partly because of its low production numbers and partly as a rare and highly valuable automotive beauty of unadulterated quality.

Of the total of 105 cars built between 1958 and 1963, divided into approximately 50 LWB and 55 SWB, various examples could be admired on the silver screen. CMC chose the road version of the SWB-California Spyder for their model, with covered
headlights and additional bumper horns. As a special feature, our limited model versions in blue, silver, and black paint finishes come with the factory hardtop, which was rarely offered by Ferrari in the past, as a loose component.

Admittedly, it's not easy to choose between these three exceptionally beautiful Ferraris, as each of these three special versions possesses a very individual elegance.

Based on the legendary Ferrari 250 California SWB standard model (Art.-No. M-091 red), CMC has created three attractive exterior paint finishes in blue, silver, and black as limited special editions. The interior color scheme is also chosen to match the exterior paint: the black-painted California features radiant vulcan red leather, sporty black in the interior of the silver Ferrari, and a noble beige in the blue Spyder.

With a worldwide edition of only 2500 units, these are strictly limited.

As a special feature, each model includes a hardtop as a removable component, with which you can transform your roadster into a coupé as desired. A high-quality trolley for presenting the hardtop completes this special edition.

Don't hesitate too long, choose your favorite color. We wish you much pleasure and exciting moments of discovery with your newly acquired "Cal-Spyder."
