1/18 Ferrari 250 SWB California Spyder 1961 Black CMC M-094 #1803/2500 - pre-owned

Description
Today I am offering the collection of a former CMC dealer and long-time collector of these beautiful models. Almost all of them are in new condition in their original packaging with all accessories as shown in my photos. If the model had leather straps to close the hoods, these were never opened. In many cases, the security stickers are still present. Everything should be clearly visible in the photos. One or the other original packaging may show signs of storage.
You will receive an invoice according to §25a UstG without showing the statutory VAT for used goods.
Not suitable for children under 14 years. May contain small and sharp parts.
Model History:
Growing prosperity and the mild climate made California the "dreamland" of Americans. Johnny von Neumann, a Ferrari dealer in California, realized that the jet set needed a special "toy" that was completely different from the vehicles of American manufacturers. His desire for a powerful Spyder found a receptive ear in Enzo Ferrari.
With the 250 California SWB, Ferrari succeeded in creating a convertible that was unrivaled at the end of the 1950s and was considered the benchmark for all open roadsters. The brilliant duo, Sergio Pininfarina as the body designer and the no less famous Sergio Scaglietti as the virtuoso sheet metal artist, contributed to this.
The "Cal-Spyder" was initially launched in early 1958 with a long wheelbase of 2,600 mm. In 1960, a new version followed as the so-called Short Wheel Base (SWB) with a wheelbase of 2,400 mm. This car was essentially identical in construction to the 250 GT/SWB Berlinetta, which was introduced at the end of 1959. Its famous 12-cylinder V-engine now delivered a powerful 280 hp to the asphalt. Vehicles for road use received a steel body, while for racing a lightweight aluminum body along with a larger fuel tank and an external quick-release fuel filler cap were provided.
The Ferrari "Cal-Spyder" therefore quickly became the status symbol of the truly last and honest "dual-purpose car". In other words, it was equally in its element on the road and on the race track. Thus, it achieved an almost mystical status as a successful sports car, partly due to the small production number and partly as a rare and highly valuable automotive beauty of unadulterated quality.
Of the total of 105 cars built between 1958 and 1963, divided into approx. 50 LWB and 55 SWB, various representatives were to be admired on the big screen. CMC chose the road version of the SWB-California Spyder with covered
headlights and additional bumper horns for their model. As a special feature, our limited model versions in blue, silver, and black exterior paintwork come with the factory hardtop, which was very rarely offered by Ferrari, as a loose component.
Admittedly, it is not easy to choose between these three exceptionally beautiful Ferraris, because each of these three special versions possesses a very individual elegance.
Based on the legendary Ferrari 250 California SWB standard model (item no. M-091 red), CMC has created three attractive exterior paint finishes in blue, silver and black as limited special models. The color scheme of the interior is also chosen to match the exterior paintwork: In the black painted California you will find radiant vulcan red leather, sporty black in the interior of the silver Ferrari and a noble beige in the blue Spyder.
With a worldwide edition of only 2500 units, these are strictly limited.
As a special feature, each model comes with a hardtop as a detachable component, with which you can transform your roadster into a coupé at will. A high-quality trolley for presenting the hardtop completes this special edition.
Don't hesitate too long, choose your favorite color. We wish you much pleasure and exciting moments of discovery with your newly acquired "Cal-Spyder".
