Ferrari 250 SWB California Spyder 1961 black CMC M-094 pre-owned

Description
Growing prosperity and the mild climate made California a "dream country" for Americans. Johnny von Neumann, a Ferrari dealer in California, realized that the jet set needed a special "toy" that was completely different from the vehicles of American manufacturers. His desire for a powerful spyder found a receptive ear in Enzo Ferrari.
With the 250 California SWB, Ferrari created a convertible that was unsurpassed at the end of the 1950s and was considered the benchmark for all open-top roadsters. Contributing to this success was the brilliant duo of Sergio Pininfarina as a bodywork designer and the equally renowned Sergio Scaglietti as a virtuoso metal artist.
The "Cal-Spyder" was initially launched in early 1958 with a long wheelbase of 2,600 mm. A new version, the so-called Short Wheel Base (SWB), followed in 1960 with a wheelbase of 2,400 mm. This car was essentially identical in construction to the 250 GT/SWB Berlinetta, introduced in late 1959. Its famous 12-cylinder V-engine now delivered a powerful 280 hp. Road vehicles received a steel body, while racing vehicles featured a lightweight aluminum body, along with a larger fuel tank and external quick-release fuel filler neck.
The Ferrari "Cal-Spyder" quickly became a status symbol of the truly last and true "dual-purpose car." In other words, it was at home on both the road and the racetrack. It thus achieved an almost mystical status as a successful sports car, partly due to its low production numbers and partly as a rare and highly valuable automotive beauty of unadulterated quality.
Of the total of 105 cars built between 1958 and 1963, divided into approximately 50 LWB and 55 SWB, various representatives could be admired on the film screen. CMC chose the road version of the SWB California Spyder for their model with covered
Headlights and additional bumper horns. As a special feature, our limited-edition models in blue, silver, and black exterior paint come with the factory hardtop, which was once very rarely offered by Ferrari, as a separate component.
Admittedly, it is not easy to choose between these three exceptionally beautiful Ferraris, as each of these three special versions has its own individual elegance.
Based on the legendary Ferrari 250 California SWB standard model (item no. M-091 red), CMC has created three attractive exterior paint finishes in blue, silver, and black as limited-edition special models. The interior color scheme matches the exterior paint: For example, the black California features radiant volcano red leather, the silver Ferrari's interior is sporty black, and the blue Spyder features a sophisticated beige.
With a worldwide circulation of only 2,500 units, these are strictly limited.
As a special feature, each model comes with a removable hardtop, allowing you to transform your roadster into a coupe at will. A high-quality trolley for displaying the hardtop completes this special edition.
Don't hesitate, choose your favorite color. We wish you lots of fun and exciting moments of discovery with your newly acquired "Cal-Spyder."
