In the early years of racing, teams drove their cars primarily on public roads and under their own power. After this practice was no longer possible or permitted, the 1950s and 1960s marked the heyday of racing transporters, which are still admired today, or again, as newly discovered and highly respected witnesses to past racing events. The Fiat 642 RN2 with the Bartoletti body, built in 1957, was arguably one of the most famous examples of that era. Both Scuderia Ferrari and Scuderia Maserati used this almost identical transporter to transport their racing cars. The transporters of the two teams differed primarily in their exterior paintwork and lettering. • Metal rails inserted on the side and fixed with screw clamps for use as a ramp
• Perfectly designed rope mechanism with guide and deflection rollers for manually operated adjustment of the lifting platform
• Highly detailed 6-cylinder diesel in-line engine with all attachments and hinged hood
• Precisely designed vehicle frame as a metal construction with trailer coupling attached to the rear
• Perfectly reproduced drive train consisting of engine, gearbox, rear axle and two-part, rotating cardan shafts
