CMC Lucky Set 2018 "COLLINS" CMC M-202 LE 200 pieces

Description
For this CMC Lucky Set 2018, we have selected three different racing cars of the type CMC Ferrari D 50 with which the Scuderia starting driver Peter Collins was successful in Grand Prix races of the 1956 season, but at the same time also became a “tragic hero” (see # 26).
The model set also comes with a display case and a racing driver figure. The Lucky Set is only available as a complete set.
The special edition consists of three racing cars with podium finishes from 1956
• CMC Ferrari D50, Shortnose #14, French GP
• CMC Ferrari D50, Longnose #2, GP Germany
• CMC Ferrari D50, Shortnose #26, Italian GP (Monza)
The extraordinary driving talent of the young Briton Peter Collins (born November 6, 1931) did not go unnoticed by Enzo Ferrari. Consequently, Peter Collins was signed by the Scuderia starting in 1956. The "youngster" made a strong impression from the very first race – his chances of becoming Drivers' World Champion were very good. He remained modest and approachable.
At the final GP race of the 1956 season in Monza, Collins made racing history: His selfless decision and generous tribute to his world champion rival decided the outcome of the championship. Collins is the only Formula 1 driver in history to voluntarily forgo the world championship title in favor of his teammate. He justified this decision by arguing that he was still young enough and had plenty of opportunities to become world champion in the coming years.
Unfortunately, Collins died just two years later in an accident at the Nürburgring during the 1958 German Grand Prix.
- Peter Collins entered the French Grand Prix with starting number 14. It was the fifth round of the 1956 World Automobile Championship. After a challenging race, Peter Collins won the race by a narrow margin over his second-placed teammate Eugenio Castellotti.
- Peter Collins entered the German Grand Prix at the Nürburgring with starting number 2. Both Ferrari drivers drove a long-nosed D50. To better distinguish the two cars, the tip of Collins' D50's nose was painted with a dark green stripe. A driving error ended Collins' race.
- The final race of the season, at Monza, decided the title. Fangio, Collins, or Behra was the question at the start. As mentioned above, Fangio took over Collins' car and thus won his fourth world championship title.
