The Jaguar C-Type boasts a proud racing history and, from today's perspective, represents the beginning of the impressive motorsport program of Jaguar Cars Ltd. The XKC was born from the idea of William Lyons—at that time not yet a "sir"—and his chief designer, William Heynes, in the late summer of 1950. The two wanted to give the brand's sporting image a lasting boost and demonstrate the results to the international public and potential buyers the following year at Le Mans. Quod erat demonstrandum!

While the all-new C-Type's powertrain was based on the proven XK120 engine, its robust but weighty chassis was replaced by a very lightweight tubular space frame. Jaguar Cars Ltd. developed three different variants of the C-Type:

The first variant were the three pre-production racing cars from Le Mans in 1951 – which, incidentally, reached their destination under their own steam – equipped with drum brakes, two SU carburettors, and distinctive air vents on the hood. The second variant were the production vehicles built from 1952 onwards – from chassis number XKC005 to XKC049, also with drum brakes and SU carburettors, but with swept-back air vents on the hood. The final stage of the C-Type development were the 1953 factory racing cars, which differed from the customer XKCs in several features: The revised engines received three Weber twin-turbocharged Type 40DCO3 carburettors, the body was made of very thin aluminum sheet, and the rubber fuel tank was derived from aircraft construction. Jaguar used the newly developed Dunlop disc brakes and a servo amplifier for brake pressure assistance for the first time. For improved roadholding at Le Mans, the rear axle received additional support, and the front axle a stronger anti-roll bar. The reward for their hard work: game, set, and match. At 4:00 PM on June 14, 1953, the Jaguar boys reached the finish line – the C-Types literally steamrolled the competition, taking first, second, and fourth place.

Based on this legendary racing car, CMC has created a special version in a noble gold tone, of which only 300 units are available in Europe for the Techno Classica 2020.
