This model is new and has never been exhibited before. It comes from the 'forgotten stock' of a toy retailer and has only now been rediscovered – along with other CMC models. This is a rare opportunity to acquire this special edition model, long sold out, in mint condition. Only a few pieces are available.

I check the model for damage before shipping, as it has been in its original packaging for over 10 years.

You will receive an invoice WITHOUT VAT shown, in accordance with §25a UStG.

Description of the original vehicle: For the upcoming 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1938, Alfa's newly founded racing department “Alfa Corte” was particularly motivated; they wanted victory! An 8C 2900 B with a special body and a more powerful engine was intended to make this possible.

The renowned coachbuilder Touring commissioned the creation of a closed body (Berlinetta) shaped according to aerodynamic principles, using their famous lightweight construction method as the Superleggera. The result is a breathtaking and at the same time very futuristic-looking racing car, ready for the start.

The experienced endurance racing team of Raymond Sommer and Clemente Biondetti entered the battle at Le Mans with starting number 19. Never before in Le Mans racing history had a car dominated the race so convincingly and superiorly as the 8C 2900 B Speciale.

In the 20th hour of the race, the Alfa Corte team was already leading the field by 11 laps or approximately 160 km ahead of the entire competition when the right front tire burst at top speed.

Driver Raymond Sommer managed to regain control of the car, keep it on track, and reach the pits. There, it became apparent that tire debris had damaged the engine mounts and that engine oil was also leaking. Despite this, Clemente Biondetti, still leading the team, ventured back onto the track, but after only two laps, a valve failure forced him to retire for good.

Thus, a seemingly certain victory ended in disaster in an instant. Le Mans 1938 was the only appearance of the 8C 2900 B Speciale with the Touring Superleggera body.
