The model comes from an estate. This model was still factory sealed. I opened it for the first time for the photos. It is therefore in mint condition. However, the original packaging still shows signs of storage. Please look at all the pictures to see what you are getting. The first pictures are of the model for sale. The others without protective fleece are from a model already sold and are for illustration purposes only.
Its complex tubular space frame, finely spun from over 200 short pipe sections, gave the Maserati Tipo 60/61 its memorable and now legendary name "Birdcage". Such a frame weighs only 30 kg, a stroke of genius by its inventor, Maserati chief designer Giulio Alfieri. The "cage" of the Tipo 61, clad in an extremely tight-fitting aluminum body, is powered by a 2.9-liter four-cylinder inline engine that delivers a powerful 250 hp to the road.
Only 23 Tipo 60/61 examples were built between 1959 and 1961.
The white model with a blue longitudinal stripe is based on the winning car of Lucky Casner's Camoradi team and embodies model-making art at its finest.
