To be prepared for the 1935 racing season, technical improvements were made to the car and the engine output was increased to 430 hp.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003e The new racing season kicked off with the Monaco Grand Prix on April 22, 1935, in Monte Carlo. Mercedes had entered three cars driven by Caracciola, von Brauchitsch, and the Italian Luigi Fagioli. Serious competitors included such renowned drivers as Nuvolari, von Dreyfus, and Chiron (all driving Alfa Romeos). Maserati and Bugatti also anticipated good results.
